Twinkle Twinkle Little Star

Contents

For this one, we’ll need three fingers and two strings. We should all know the tune for this one (hopefully). Use your ears and sing the tune using the note names (D D A A etc).

Practice tip:
The tricky part of this one is that we need to get all three fingers onto the D string fast in order to keep the rhythm. Play the first two bars slowly — while playing the open A string, get your fingers ready and put all three down fast to play the next bars.

Break it down into smaller chunks for practice

Variations!

Once you’ve mastered the basic tune, for a challenge, try playing the tune with different rhythms. I’ve linked to some YouTube piano accompaniments for the ones below.

Each one plays a one-bar introduction so you can hear the tempo before you start playing.
